Brandenberg Collection
Marjorie Brandenberg's family roots go back to the early days of the settlement of
Alpena- her parents and her two grandmothers were born in Alpena County. She has
family connections with David D. Oliver, an Alpena pioneer and author on one of the
first histories of the region (A Centennial History of Alpena County). Marjorie has
deposited many of her family papers and photgraphs with the library.
Myra Herron Collection
Ms. Herron was born and raised in Alpena adn has done extensive genealogy on her local family connections. Her collection includes Alpena High School yearbooks 1955-1958, Alpena ephemera, and her father's (Harlo Herron) postcard collection. Donated in the names of Harlo and Mary Herron.
John McConnell Collection
Collection of Middle Island Life-Saving Station Wreck reports (copies & audio recordings) covering 1883-1917 and archival record of the development of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary & Underwater Preserve.
Stephen D. Tongue Collection
Collections of materials and research notes used in the writing of two books, "A Century of Cement: 100 Years 1907-2007 Lafarge Cement Alpena Plant; A Legacy of Progress" and "Lanterns and lifeboats: a history of Thunder Bay Island".
