Robert Lyngos was born in Alpena and has had a long-time interest in local history. His
father worked for the Gilchrist family (who were promient in the Michigan lumber and
shipping industries) both at their summer home in Alpena and also in the lumbermill town
of Gilchrist, Oregon. Robert taught Michigan and Alpena history classes in the public
schools and has been active in promoting local history- speaking, leading architectual
tours and volunteering at the museum. He currently works in the Special Collections
Alpena Room division of the library. |
