Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library is located in the northeast
corner of Michigan's lower peninsula. It serves a population of 31,104 and is the
largest and only Class V library located in the northeastern part of Michigan. The
area is rural. There is no four-year college in the region and the community college
has a limited collection and resources making Alpena County George N. Fletcher
Public Library the backup for the entire northeast.
